The Poetto beach is Cagliari's beach, the favourite beach by the residents. Located in the most beautiful spot, it fronts the Golfo degli Angeli, the Angels Gulf, set between the Sella del Diavolo, the San Bartolomeo Hills and the Molentargius Salt Mines pond.

The beach stretches from the picturesque Marina Piccola (the Little Marina) till the village of Quartu Sant'Elena, 5 miles away.

Poetto beach, also known as "the thousands beach", its ideal to relax. From dawn till sunset you can find all the facilities you need at the Poetto beach. You can sunbathe and cool down at the beach kiosks, you can pleasantly dine out, play Beach Volley, swim and jog along the sandy shore. At night the beach turns into the main meeting and tourist resort for live music and for strolling under the stars.

Do you prefer a secluded cove more and to enjoy fully the relaxing atmosphere of the Poetto beach? At the Calamosca point, don't miss the utmost clear sea of Cala Fighera and Capo Sant'Elia (Sant'Elia Cape). This shingle beach is set between the cliffs and the Colle Sant'Elia, also known as the Sella del Diavolo, the Devil's Saddle.

Going west, passed the Ponte della Scaffa (Scaffa's Bridge), you will find the Giorgino site. This is the old, traditional sea site of Cagliari and the first bathing establishments were set here. Nearby the Villaggio dei Pescatori , The Fishermen's' Village, (don't miss the chance to eat at the fish restaurants placed aboard of the boats themselves), you can sunbathe and swim at the Giorgino beach, smaller than Poetto but cozier.
